Dearest Bono,
I’d like to wish you a very very happy and a special birthday and… I have chosen this way to do it because I want to support your effort to save Africa and also to give you a concrete proof of my admiration for you.
I think you are right when you say that we must not forget, especially in this moment, Africa’s war against poverty and AIDS. I don’t forget it, above all because you and your example are always an inspiration… source for me. Walk on, Bono! God bless you.

You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.

14 "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;

15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.

16 "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew  5:13-16

Wishing you the Peace that only HE can bring,

Dear Bono
When I sit and think of all the things I would like to say to you, I am sure I could waffle on for pages, and there are just as many questions I would like to ask. However, I suppose it all just really boils down to "Thank you." You have shown me a better way to live my life, and I don't think that any person can give a greater gift than that.
I hope that this well will provide many people with clean water and a better hope for the future.I hope that you are able to celebrate your birthday with your loved ones, and that it is filled with love, laughter and lots of fun. I pray that in the coming year you will be blessed with all the good things this life has to offer.
Take care and God bless,
Melissa (Australia)

Hi there Bono! Happy Birthday to you! Many would wonder what kind of man would be pleased by receiving a Well as a birthday gift.
That's what sets you apart; your kindness, your passion, your sweet & sincere charm, and most of all, your humanity. Your selfless actions, as well as your emotive music, will never disappoint me and will always inspire me to be a better person. I sincerely hope you have a beautiful birthday, filled with all the joys you deserve.
Love,

Bono-aka Paul Hewson,
Recently I have re-discovered the music of U2 and have learned about you as a person and not just a rock star.  You have soul!
You bring a smile to my faces and you bring a smile to the faces of the many Africans you have helped with your hard work with Drop the Debt campaign and now DATA.  I even wrote a paper about DATA for my MBA e-Marketing class and made a presentation on DATA to my classmates. I have been researching my family tree and have discovered that I have Irish ancestry and so now listening to your music means even more since I too come from Ireland.
Keep up the good work and happy birthday -Bono.

Happy Birthday B.!.
Take a long, cold sip of fresh clean water and feel good in your heart today knowing that you inspired us to help bring this same "luxury" to at least a few of our brothers and sisters in Africa.

Happy Birthday and congratulations to you and the group for all the brilliant music you make. I personally cannot understand where you get all the richness of both the music and the lyrics from – it’s something I am totally amazed by. When I was a teenager I thought “I will stop listening to their music so much when I am older” but I don’t, which I believe is a sign that your music is really deep. The funny thing is that I don’t always love it so much at the first listens, but it comes with time, which I guess is the magic touch. What I really admire is the simplicity of the songs too, like Electrical Storm, but there is so much soul in it.
What I cannot really understand either is when people come up to me and say to me “Yeah I love U2, Under A Blood Red Sky was great”. They don’t realize that the work you have done after is amazing too and that’s frustrating.
I personnally think that some of the best work you have done is the One Million Dollar Hotel soundtrack, and yet it’s such a pity that so few people are aware of it. But maybe that leaves something to be “discovered” in the next centuries.
Congratulations for what you are doing for Africa too. As they say in many articles it’s a lot less sexy than doing rock shows but you are right to keep knocking on our doors to remind us about what’s happening. We are being totally passable – including myself of course – and that’s not right. There is always the balance between personal comfort and helping other people - and for good - and unfortunately mine is still on the selfish side. I hope I will wake up one day with some fire inside of me like you – I wish I could see through your eyes for one day.
Well I hope that you will get to read this message.
If you tour Europe again please come to visit us.
