Robert Iboro, 26 years old, has been the president/CEO of THE C.O.R.E. (Concept On Reviving the Environment) for three years. He is in his final undergraduate year at the University of Benin in Nigeria studying Geophysics. He is a great lover of music and is an alternative rock artist, working on my first album right now. The C.O.R.E.s motto is: reviving the environment through media. Most of The C.O.R.E.s artists also live in Nigeria.

About The C.O.R.E....
The C.O.R.E. is about a group of environmental friendly artists coming together to spread the news about sustainable development and need for peaceful co-existence. A young group it is, formed at the beginning of the millennium whose targeting audience is the youths. This year, in collaboration with UNEP (United Nations Environmental Programme), they will celebrate the World Environment Day (WED) on the 5th of June. It will involve school kids participating in the form of essay and poetry competitions on the environment, drama and a session of tree planting. Artists will enlighten the kids on the need for a clean environment and water to stop the spread of epidemic diseases. There will also be a 'sticker session' and a brief talk on SARS and AIDS in the community and the need to be on the alert. A website will be on the net later in the year.

About life in Nigeria…
Life in Nigeria is not easy for the masses. Though there's a lot of money in the country, the government seems to care less about the welfare of it's citizens thereby leaving most of them in almost abject poverty. This is the real story, but we are not politically sensitive.

About How important clean water is to the people of Africa right now…
Everyday we hear and see miles people trek just to get affordable water. Most people think this is an exaggerated view but maybe they need to visit my village, Ebo Itu Mbonuso in Akwa Ibom State Nigeria, where people have just one very unclean stream for almost five communities! This is the real cause of water borne diseases.  I think to really cure malaria, Africa needs fresh water first.

About how providing clean water can improve peoples lives here….
It will do a great good, both body and soul! You might never understand until you stay thirsty for a day. Maybe we all should try this thrice a week.

About why people should care about providing clean water in Africa...
The basic thing in life is health. I believe no health, no life. I also believe the cure for one of Africa’s deadliest diseases is clean water. With affordable clean water, the dangers of going long stressful distances will be curbed and a cleaner and health environment will emerge due to access to clean water.
So the world and people who care about Africa should, first and foremost, care about clean water in Africa.

We need to create this awareness and I think it's should start with us Africans.
