African Development Bank Water Initiatives

The African Development Bank has announced plans to rally financial and donor support for water initiatives in Africa. The goal is to provide clean water to all Africans by the year 2025.

The announcement was made in Tunis at the Water Week conference by African Development Bank president Omar Kabbaj. The conference was attended by hundreds of NGOs such as NEPAD and UNICEF along with 17 ministers of the Council of African Ministers on Water (AMCOW). The recommendations adopted by the group serve to raise water to the top of Africa’s development agenda.

For more information on the ADB's Water Week, please visit the African Development Bank's website. It contains a wealth of information and statistics concerning the current water crisis in Africa.
