The African
Well Fund is excited to announce our 2nd Annual Got Water?
Virtual Auction for Clean Water Projects in Africa. As the
name suggests, the event is a virtual one, a seven-day eBay
auction that will take place from Nov. 13th through Nov. 19th.
This event, which utilizes MissionFish and eBay’s Giving
Works programs, will enable our supporters to participate
no matter where they are located geographically.
We
are seeking donations of items for this auction. There
are two ways to donate an item. You can list the item
yourself and link to the auction virtually (easy to
follow instructions are included) or you can send the
item to us and we will list and ship the item to the
winning bidder. Either way your donated item will help
to raise money to fund clean water projects in Africa.
You may also consider soliciting items from local businesses
or from friends and family.
To
list the item yourself:
Sign up for eBay seller account if you do not already
have one.
Create the listing page for your item.
On step 3 (Pictures & Details) under Pricing and
Duration there is a drop down box where you can Donate
a Percentage of Sale.
Pick the AWF using the Mission Fish pop-up window.
Register with Mission Fish (if you haven’t already)
Select a percentage of the final value to donate for
this listing – in this case 100% since all proceeds
are going to the auction.
Complete the listing on eBay – make sure that
the go live date is Monday Nov 13 at 12 noon and the
auction end date is Sunday, Nov 19 at noon. Items
may be pre-listed using eBays’s scheduling service
beginning on Oct. 23rd.
Now your item will appear with the eBay Giving works
icon – we will also have a link to your item
from our auction homepage.
The AWF and the donation percentage will appear in
the item description.
When the auction ends, the buyer pays you and then
you ship the item to the buyer, as usual.
You pay your donation to Mission Fish.
If you don’t pay within a few days (by the 2nd
Monday after the auction ends), Mission Fish will
collect the money from your credit card automatically.
Mission Fish holds the donation in escrow until the
refund period expires. (End of the month when the
auction ends plus 15 days)
Mission Fish distributes the funds to AWF and provides
a receipt to the seller for the gift.

Celebrity Water Bottle Auction - Can You Help????
As part of this year's auction, we hope to offer CELEBRITY DESIGNED water bottles for bid and we are recruiting celebrities who would be like to participate.
It's easy! We'll send you the water bottle along with markers to decorate AND a addressed envelope to return the bottle. Decorate the bottle however you like - or just autograph it!
All proceeds from the auction will be used to fund clean water and sanitation projects in Africa.
