Thanks to the overwhelming support it received, the African Well Fund was one of 195 nonprofit organizations that won a $20,000 grant in the Chase Community Giving challenge on Facebook in July. AWF will use the money to help fund a $30,000 clean water and sanitation project in Ghana that will be implemented by AWF partner Africare, and is now in need of the remaining $10,000 needed to fully fund this project, which will benefit about 2,300 people.

To make a donation, visit the Donate page and click on the "Ghana Wassa Amenfi Phase IV" button. Donations can also be made via AWF's Causes page on Facebook.

AWF again thanks all of its supporters who helped earn this $20,000 grant from Chase.

African Well Fund Board Member Lara Wineman has posted pictures of the birthday card she created for Bono to mark the most-recent Build a Well for Bono's Birthday fundraiser. The card contains a Well Share informing Bono of the $25,217.02 that was donated by U2 fans during the fundraiser this spring, plus the additional $1,085 that fans donated to AWF via the Get WELL Fund for Bono on Facebook following his May back surgery. The card also includes all of the birthday messages that fans left for Bono on the AWF website.

The African Well Fund raised $25,217.02 during the 55-day Build a Well for Bono's Birthday fundraiser to help fund the Buhera Integrated Community Water and Sanitation Project, which will benefit 2,200 people in a region of Zimbabwe that has been greatly impacted by a cholera epidemic.

U2 fans have donated nearly $200,000 through the eight Build a Well for Bono's Birthday fundraisers to benefit more than 30,000 people in Angola, Liberia, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

The African Well Fund will host its sixth annual Got Water? eBay auction Nov. 7-14 to raise money to fund water and sanitation projects in sub-Saharan Africa. Last year's auction, which included signed items from members of U2, The Swell Season and Anti-Flag, raised $1,596.91.

Items up for auction this year will include U2 memorabilia, and arts and crafts from Africa. AWF is seeking additional items to include in the auction. If you would like to make a donation, please contact Paola Palumbi Yeager, auction coordinator, at ppalumbi@africanwellfund.org.

If you would like to help AWF secure items for this and future auctions, AWF is currently seeking a volunteer Auction Item Solicitor. For more information on this and other volunteer opportunities with AWF, click here.
