Picture This! Fundraiser Funds A Well

The African Well Fund is pleased to announce that the fundraising event, Picture This!, held on September 19, 2004 at the First Christian Church in Fullerton CA, successfully raised enough money to fund a well in Africa. This achievement will make a significant difference in the lives of many Africans.

Participants in this community adventure, embarked on a photo scavenger hunt featuring the highlights of downtown Fullerton. An opportunity drawing was held as well as a silent auction featuring gift items generously donated by many local businesses. Speaking at the event were Julie Cook, Chairman of the African Well Fund and Iyeshatu Manga. Manga, a native of Sierra Leone, spoke movingly of the lack of water access in her native land, especially compared to its abundance here and of the importance of Western action to rectify this disparity.

The African Well Fund would like to offer its sincere thanks to all those who participated in the event. A special thanks goes out to all our event sponsors who generously donated our silent auction and drawing items: NIN International of Cerritos, CA, Mimi’s Café, Magpie Designs, Lomeli's Italian Restaurant, Beauty Concept, Michelangelo’s Pizza, Sunny Hills Auto Care, Giovanni’s, Double D Grill, Larry’s Pizza and Sports Parlor of Fullerton, CA and the Improv of Brea. AWF would also like to thank the First Christian Church of Fullerton for all their support as well as all our volunteers without whom the event would not have been a success.
