U2's Principle Management has let us know that Bono sends his thanks to the African Well Fund and all who donated to his birthday well with the following message:

To The African Well Fund,

We are very grateful for this acknowledgement, but the real reward for each of us is the tangible difference that we know we are making in the lives of Africans! Let's keep focusing on that. Thanks so much everyone for all your hard work and contributions to the fund!

The African Well Fund is thrilled to announce that it has provided funding for two well building projects in Africa. The funding has been generously donated primarily by U2 fans from around the world. Sixteen wells will be built in two African nations. When completed, these wells will serve the needs of over 7700 African people.

What do you get a man who has everything?
We got Bono approximately 10 wells for his birthday!
That's right! We are pleased to announce due to the overwhelming generousity of U2 fans, the African Well Fund was able to raise $10, 253.18 to build wells with in Uganda! We would like to thank you very much!

We have just learned that our first well is being built in Mukini, Uganda. We will have pictures of the progress soon!

Africare has presented Bono with a plaque commemorating our efforts!
